I went to a high school that puts a lot of pressure on academic success. I live in an affluent area, so kids are expected to be as high-achieving as their parents. This is a persistent problem whenever something less than ideal happens at our high school. For instance, a junior beat up a freshman in a school bathroom, which prompted a district-wide announcement to all 4 high schools that we are better than this and it doesn’t represent what we stand for. Parents even started a petition to have bathroom monitors. The more keen students knew that fights are a common occurrence in other areas. Just giving you a little insight into the environment I grew up in.
