10 Reasons Why You Must Visit The Netherlands
A low-lying country surrounded by the sea, the Netherlands boast unique architectural designs that are rich in history. At least a quarter of the country is almost or below sea level. The rest of the country is being protected by series of dykes to prevent flooding the inner cities. Enjoy relaxing views while sipping coffee at “canal side cafes.”

The Hoge Veluwe National Park

Located in the province of Gelderland, the Hoge Veluwe National Park is a unique and certainly one of the country’s largest natural reserves. There are also plenty of things to do at the park. One of the most popular attractions inside the national park is the 1700 white bikes that can be used by everyone for free. Also, inside the park is the Kroller-Muller Museum that boasts a large privately owned Van Gogh collection.

Waddenzee

If you love birds, then you will love Waddenzee as it is one of the most interesting natural reserve in The Netherlands and is quite important too. Waddenzee is home to millions of migratory birds, different species of fish and seal colonies. Another unique character of this 2,500 square kilometer nature reserve is that there are times when you see Wadenzee above sea level and there are times when it is submerged in the sea.

The Old Windmills of Kinderdijk

Windmills are a common site in The Netherlands, but nothing beats the 19 Old Windmills of Kinderdjirk. The Windmills of Kinderdjirk were designed back in 1740 and its primary function is to drain Alblsserwaard polders. Note that the Windmill of Kinderdjirk has been preserved ever since. The windmills are open to tourist to be explored from April to October.

Alkmaar Cheese Market

If you love cheese, then do not miss the Alkmaar Cheese Market. Travel back in time while exploring and see market vendors wearing traditional Dutch costumes while selling top of the line cheeses. Experience the culture, the tradition and the cheese, of course, at Alkmaar Cheese Market.

The Efteling

Built in 1952, the Efteling is one of the oldest theme parks in The Netherlands, and probably in the world. The famous theme park has four different realms: the Fairy Realm, Adventure Realm, Alterative Realm and the Travel Realm.

Anne Frank House

Now this is a treat for history fans out there – the Anne Frank House. Located in Amsterdam, the famous house serves as a hiding place for Anne and her family against the Nazi soldiers. What made the house even more controversial is when Anne’s diary was found and was published.

Diegaardee Blijdorp

Diegaarde Blijdorp, or known as the Foundation Royal Zoo of Rotterdam, is one of the oldest zoos in The Netherlands as it is at least 160 years old. Diegaarde Blijdorp has various animals from all over the world – even from Asia.

Vondelpark

Vondelpark is a 120 acres urban park located in Amsterdam, which was built in 1865 and boasts an open theater where artist from different genre performs. Entrance is free but every visitor is encouraged to donate one euro for the Vondelpark.

Oude Kerk

Oude Kerk is one of the oldest parish church in The Netherlands. The building was consecrated as a parish back in 1306 and its main attraction are the church’s floor, which is mainly made up of gravestones.

Keukenhof

Keukenhof or Kitchen garden is one of the largest flower garden in the world. It is located in South Holland and is usually open for tourist from the months of March to May. Keukenhof has at least seven million flowers and is quite magnificent to see.
