Storage while travelling and relocating
Quote from Marik on 26. June 2026, 9:31Just got back from a 4 month trip to see family, and had to figure out the whole "leave your life in a box" thing here in Dubai. I was switching apartments too, so I needed a place to stash everything for a good chunk of time. Let me tell you, the options are all over the place in terms of price and what you actually get.
My main thing was finding a unit I could access 24/7, because my flight back landed at a weird hour. I also wanted somewhere with decent climate control, because that summer heat will melt your stuff through a wall. After calling a few places, I settled on a company that had all that. They even did pick up from my old place, which saved me a huge headache.
A few things I learned that might help:
* Measure your big items (sofa, mattress) before you look at unit sizes online. I almost rented one way too small.
* Check if insurance is included or extra. It usually is extra, but it's worth having.
* Take photos of everything you box up. Just for your own records. If you're looking for a good starting point to compare, I'd suggest checking out some reviews for storage solutions Dubai online. It helped me narrow it down. For bigger moves or long term plans, I sometimes browse the property section in The National to get a sense of market trends. Anyway, it's a bit of a project, but totally worth it for the peace of mind while you're away. No coming back to a storage unit that feels like an oven.
